The Medical College for Women & Hospital is a venture of the Medical and Health Welfare Trust, which was founded in 1992. The project was initiated by four individuals who had a vision: Prof. A.Q.M. Badruddoza Choudhury, Former President of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, Prof. M.R. Khan, National Chairman, Prof. A. M. Mujibul Haq, Founder Principal of MCWH, and Prof. Suraiya Jabeen, Founder and Treasurer. Their dream was to establish a medical college exclusively for women.
The institute's objective is to educate specifically chosen female candidates for a duration of five academic years, following the curriculum set by the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC), in order to obtain an MBBS degree from Dhaka University.
