The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has released an official notice regarding the postponement of the NEET MDS 2024 exam. Registered candidates can check the official notification with the deferred exam date on the official website of NBEMS.

According to the NBEMS official notice the NEET MDS 2023 examination, which was earlier scheduled to be held on February 9, 2024, has now been scheduled for on March 18, 2024. The cut-off date for eligibility to appear in the NEET MDS 2024 shall be March 31, 2024.

The official notification read, “Pursuant to the receipt of DCI Letter No. DCI/Admission/Admsn/MDS/ Gen/999/2024-25/2024/6933 dated 08.01.2024 and MoHFW letter No. V.12025/158/2023-DE(Pt) dated 19.01.2024, the conduct of the NEET MDS 2024 examination which was earlier notified to be tentatively held on 9th February 2024, stands rescheduled. The NEET MDS 2024 shall now be conducted on 18th March 2024.”

NEET MDS is an eligibility-cum-ranking examination prescribed as the single entrance examination for admission to various MDS Courses under the Dentists Act, of 1948. A candidate for admission to the Master’s in Dental Surgery course, must possess a recognised degree of Bachelor’s in Dental Surgery awarded by a university or institute in India and registered with the State Dental Council and have obtained provisional or permanent registration and have undergone compulsory rotatory internship of a year in an approved/ recognised dental college.

NEET-MDS is the single eligibility cum entrance examination for admission to MDS courses which will include the following:

All India 50% quota MDS seats for all States/Union territories of India
State quota seats for all States/Union territories of India
MDS Courses at all private dental colleges, institutions and universities across the country
MDS Courses at Armed Forces Medical Services Institutions
Screening exam for dental surgeons (BDS and MDS) for short service commission in Army Dental Corps

The following dental institutions are not covered by centralised admissions for MDS seats through NEET MDS:

AIIMS, New Delhi
No state government/ private dental college/ universities shall be conducting any separate entrance for admission to their MDS Courses
